• Make sure your builder is a member of the Home Owners Association.
• Make sure you get certificates from the various sub contractors (builders, aluminium, electricians, roof etc.).
• Make contact with an aluminium company to view the different products that are available on the market.
• Make sure the correct glass thickness is used in the correct application. Ask your aluminium company for the specs.
• Working within standard sizes on certain items could save you thousands of rands.
• Ask your glass and aluminium supplier if they have a showroom to view products.
• If you compare quotes make sure that the different companies quote on the same products and stipulate the products on the quote. Some products are cheaper than others because they are not of the same quality and thickness of material.
• There should be a guarantee on aluminium pwd coating and on your moving parts up to a extend.
• Safety glass shouldn’t show a crack within the 1st or 2nd day, if it was not installed correctly or moved of building glass stays intact.
• Any toughened glass breakes immediately (breaks into small blocks).
• Float glass cracks immediately (breaks into big pieces).
