The aim of this study was to improve organic acids production in semi and continuous anaerobic treatment of Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) using a locally fabricated 50 L Continuously Stirred Tank Reactor (CSTR).
Explore palm oil production across the world and its impacts on the environment.
Palm oil mill effluent: A waste or a raw material?
Zero-emission technology for palm oil mill effluent (POME) has led to a breakthrough in the palm oil industry in relation to the goal of sustainable development.
The document summarizes information about palm oil mill effluent (POME) and its potential as a renewable energy resource. It discusses that POME is a waste product generated during palm oil production that contains small amounts of oil. Extracting this POME oil could help reduce environmental hazards from POME ponds while providing a feedstock for biodiesel production. However, utilizing POME
Biodegradation of palm oil mill effluent (POME) by bacterial
Treatment and disposal of oily wastewater, such as palm oil mill effluent is presently one of the serious environmental problems contributors. Palm oil mill wastes have existed for years but their effects on environment are at present more noticeable.
Palm oil, a versatile vegetable oil with applications spanning food, cosmetics, and biofuels, has faced scrutiny in recent years due to concerns about its environmental impact.1 Malaysia, a major palm oil producer, is actively engaging with the EU to alleviate these concerns and ensure continued market access for its palm oil industry.2

The granulation process in palm oil mill effluent using calcium oxide-cement kiln dust (CaO– CKD) provides an attractive and cost effective treatment option. In this study the efficiency of CaO–CKD at doses of 1.5–20 g/l was tested in batch experiments and found that 10 g of CaO/l caused the greatest degradation of VFA, butyrate and acetate.

Oil palm cultivation requires intensive fertilizer use for increasing and sustaining growth and yields. This document is designed as a field guide for plantation management staff and agronomists. Foliar analysis gives an indication of the nutrient status of a planting.
Palm oil is used in thousands of products, from cookies to lipstick. Indonesia and Malaysia produce about 85% of the world's supply, using roughly 53,800 square miles — half the size of Oregon.
