This review covers vegetable oil feedstocks in terms of composition and typical properties, the recent development of catalytic cracking mechanism of vegetable oils, especially the reaction pathways of the primary fatty acid constituents in most of the vegetable oils, the associated catalyst characteristics and the properties of the final products.
Additionally, different routes of oil conversion and the key process parameters, including free fatty acid in the oil, moisture content of the oil, molar ratio of oil to alcohol, catalyst concentration, reaction time, reaction temperature, and intensity of mixing that influence biodiesel yield, are comprehensively discussed.
Determination of cholesterol and fatty acid content
Therefore, the present investigation filled the knowledge gap on fatty acid profile and cholesterol content of commercially sold commonly consumed vegetable oils in Dire Dawa, Adama, and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
